About

California Retina Research Foundation

Who We Are

California Retina Research Foundation (CRRF) was founded in 2001 by Dr. Robert Avery, Dr. Ma’an Nasir and Dr. Dante Pieramici to investigate the efficacy of new treatment options to help patients manage, and potentially reverse, affects of visually damaging retinal diseases. Since its inception, CRRF has helped CRC enroll more than 1,000 patients in over 50 clinical trials.

What We Do

In addition to funding research, a portion of CRRF proceeds is allocated to philanthropic examinations within California and through CRRF’s partnership with Surgical Eye Expeditions International (SEE International).

Our affiliation with SEE International enables physicians to collaborate on sustainable medical, surgical and educational services with the goal of restoring sight and preventing blindness to disadvantaged people in developing countries. To date, CRRF has helped fund missions to El Progresso, Honduras and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Our Vision

Our vision at California Retina Research Foundation is to prevent blindness through the advancement of research focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vitreoretinal diseases.
